RA CAUSES
What causes rheumatoid arthritis?
Although no one knows exactly what causes Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), experts believe that the disease may be the result of a combination of RA risk factors, including:
Genetics: Certain inherited genes may make you more likely to develop Rheumatoid Arthritis.
For Rheumatoid arthritis patients, their relatives suffered 1.5 times higher risk than the general population to get RA. Twin study showed that the genetic factors accounted for around 50% to 60% in a variety of factors associated with rheumatoid arthritis. The susceptibility genes relative to rheumatoid arthritis include HLA-DR, PADI4 and PTPN22.
Environment: RA may be triggered by an infectious agent such as a bacteria or virus in an individual genetically predisposed.
Some viral and bacterial infections may act as initiating factor, start carrying susceptibility genes in individual immune response, leading to the onset of rheumatoid arthritis. For recent research, the pathogens associated with rheumatoid arthritis include EB virus, parvovirus B19, influenza virus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
Other factors: It is also thought that female hormones and the body’s response to stressful events may play a role.
The incidence of rheumatoid arthritis between men and women was around 1: 2 to 4, suggesting that sex hormones may be involved in RA disease. In addition, female patients with rheumatoid arthritis during pregnancy can reduce the disease, after delivery of 1 to 3 months recur, progesterone levels decline prompted or estrogen - progestin hormone imbalance may be related to the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis. Smoking, cold, trauma and mental stimulation and other factors may be associated with the occurrence of rheumatoid arthritis.
For Traditional Chinese Medical Theory
There are more than 2000 years of history for the Chinese medicine treatment of rheumatoid arthritis . Earliest filed in the traditional Chinese medical book "Huangdi Neijing " in the Western Han Dynasty, which explain that Rheumatoid Arthritis could be attributed to some external and internal factors.
For external factor:
1, Lived in the wet and humid area for a long time
2, Climate changed dramatically
3, Lived in wind and cold, drink ice water or juice regularly
4, Exogenous injury
For internal factor:
1, Lack of innate endowment body, heredity
2, Acquired malnutrition
3, Over fatigue
All of these factors will cause liver and kidney deficiency, blood does not transfer or slowly, veins occlusion. Finally destroys the immune system, causing the immune system disorders. And the symptoms will be seen in the joints or bones, like pain, stiffness, swelling, and loss of function in the joints. This is an obvious autoimmune disease that caused by immune system disorder.
