Li Shizhen (1518 A.D.-1593 A.D.), a famous doctor, he systematically collected and arranged the folk medical specimens and prescriptions throughout the country. And he made 10 million-word notes. It recorded pathology and treatment of various incurable diseases. With 27 years’ unremitting efforts, he eventually wrote a 19.2 million-word medical masterpiece-The Compendium of Materia Medica in 1590. In addition, he also compiled other books including An Examination of the Eight Extra Meridians and A Study of the Pulse.
